I think 99% of all Americans are basically decent people. I don't know why we have to have this divide in our "civilized" country that we scream about "OUR" individual rights while trying to belittle and minimize the rights of someone that happens to disagree with their opinion.. I am in no way a liberal as my opinions tend to run toward the conservative but then I cant identify as a republican either as I just cant bring myself to conform to their mindset either.. I stand as a free thinking individual that sees good coming from both sides and bad coming from both sides.

 

Well, heres the thing.
If your opinion runs counter to a despicable, they will attack and belittle you and all things not in line with their agenda.

If your opinion runs counter to a deplorable opinion they'll argue with you and may even resort to name calling.

But they'll still respect you in the morning. Mostly anyway. The radical anger filled despicables who attack blindly, well, their mothers couldn't respect them.

Re Shooter: No I don't believe that's true. Trump people are much more angry, they have a person they support, they are angry at the attacks on him who they want to believe in. They are on the defensive it is their beliefs that are being attacked. . People against Trump admittedly have no one they care about or try to protect, we don't care who it is that beats Trump, we know it cant get worse.

I have a lot of friends who like Trump, damn smart people, same as my friends who don't like him. Shooters recently commented that he had a good friend who didn't like Trump but they were good friends. Besides the game they play here. it would seem reasonable everyone on here has friends who have opposing political views! just like different religions, do they think they are all stupid

 

It used to be that a hearty discussion of politics was normal; one could discuss an issue, like taxes, and which representative was doing what, and it would remain civilized and in the end, even though no one's mind had changed, everyone parted friends.

Well, now it isn't that way. You're either for us or against us, no middle ground.

It's the depths that some people will go to; the Kavanaugh confirmation was a new low in our political history; a reputable member of our judiciary had his name dragged through the mud by a vindictive, dishonest, political mob. An otherwise good person was thrust onto the national stage to be humiliated and attacked. Both of them were called horrible names, their reputations trashed, their families dragged into the arena for scrutiny.
All because one party didn't want the other party choosing a supreme court judge, and felt their chance to pick a judge had been unfairly short circuited. And because of that, there were no limits, no lines that could not be crossed. No life that was safe from attack.

Political discourse here, and in social media, and even in person has become hateful, vengeful and stupid. Nothing productive comes of it. Not at all.

Like arbitration,? We wont be happy til Trump is gone...Period! As much as you like him we dislike him, but why get angry about it...So we don't agree, big deal that what adults do they learn to live with each other even when they don't agree.
