The Rolling Stones, Kristen Stewart, and a Mustang GT are a sure recipe for attraction that comes together in the Stones’ latest music video. KStew’s full speed drive through empty L.A. streets captures attention from the Stones’ cover of Eddie Taylor’s 1955 Ride ‘Em On Down with her personal dance party in and out of the car, according to Rolling Stone. The track is the first one released from the 12 blues covers on Blue & Lonesome, a set that reflects the band’s influences and early style.
Stewart drives hard in most of the video, stopping to buy cigarettes, smoke while pole dancing at a gas pump, and again when another apparent lonely survivor in a cop car pulls her over looking for gas. The only other time the Blue GT slows down is when Stewart pauses from blowing donuts in L.A. River storm drains to let a zebra cross in front of the car.
The Stones cut all 12 tracks for Blue & Lonesome, the group’s first studio album since 2005, in just three days — one day longer than it reportedly took to film the video with Kristen Stewart. When the band announced the album in October, guitarist Ronnie Wood said they were recording new music at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studio in London and when they decided to cut some blues tracks it all came together quickly.
“I didn’t even have time to change my guitar,” said Wood. “They were coming so thick and fast. It was like, ‘OK, let’s do it — this one, that one.’ Some of the harder riffs were making my fingers bleed, and Mick was going, ‘Come, let’s do it again, then!’ And we’ll go, ‘Hang on! My fingers!’ It was real hard work, but I love it.”
