Nothing has been running an open beta of Android 15 with Nothing OS 3.0 for several of its devices, including the Nothing Phone 2, Phone 2a, and CMF Phone 1. But now, if you have a Nothing Phone 2a Plus, you can also get the Android 15 beta.

The Nothing Phone 2a Plus is a bit of a weird phone. It’s another phone in the trend of manufacturers releasing something that is “new-but-not-really,” because the Nothing Phone 2a Plus is mostly the same as the Nothing Phone 2a, but with a slight bump in specs.

If you’re having a hard time figuring out the differences between the two, basically the Phone 2a Plus has a MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro chip instead of the Dimensity 7200 Pro in the Phone 2a, only comes with 256GB of storage, with no option for 128GB, and has a 50MP selfie camera instead of 32MP. Again, very marginal spec differences, as everything else is pretty much the same.

But if you had the Nothing Phone 2a Plus, well, now you can finally check out the Android 15 beta too, along with users of the Nothing Phone 2, Phone 2a, and CMF Phone 1.

The Android 15 beta with Nothing OS 3.0 is now available as of December 12, 2024. It features the same change log and install method as the other previously mentioned devices. Basically, you will have to download an APK and follow the instructions provided from Nothing to get it on your Nothing Phone 2a Plus. If you find out that the beta isn’t your thing, then yes, there is a rollback method to get back on a stable Android 14 build.

As of now, the only Nothing device that has yet to receive the Android 15 beta update is Nothing Phone 1.

There’s a glaring issue with Nothing Phones, and it isn’t pretty
The rear panel and camera island on the Nothing Phone 2a.

I adore Nothing. It’s the first brand that redefined what it means to go bold with hardware design, UX aesthetics, and marketing in the past few years. The bright streak has continued well into 2024. The London-based upstart just pulled another surprise and beat big dogs like Samsung at rolling out the Android 15 update.

This company knows how to make a splash in meaningful ways. The Nothing Phone 2a, in particular, is my favorite. Digital Trends’ review fittingly labeled it as “a brilliant buy.” The recent glow-in-the-dark community edition trim was a true head-turner.

After weeks of beta testing, Nothing is the latest name to join the stable Android 15 rollout bandwagon. In a community update today, the company announced the wide release of Nothing OS 3.0 based on Android 15 for its relatively slim smartphone portfolio.

The first devices to get the update are the Nothing Phone 2 and Nothing Phone 2a, both of which are slated to get the over-the-air (OTA) update in a phased format throughout December. Next in line are the Nothing Phone 1, Nothing Phone 2a Plus, and CMF Phone 1, which are scheduled to receive the OS upgrade early next year.

Here’s every Pixel phone that can download Android 16 Developer Preview 1
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL next to the Google Pixel 8 Pro.

Even though Android 15 launched only recently, Google is already moving on to Android 16, which is much earlier than is typical. And if you have a Pixel device from the past couple of years, you can get the Android 16 Developer Preview 1 right now.

Typically, when Google releases a beta for Android, the Pixel lineup gets it first before any other phones. When Google announced Android 16 earlier today, we didn’t know exactly which Pixel models would be able to get the Developer Preview. But Google just revealed which models can run Android 16, and two of them are a bit surprising.
