Nintendo

The Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular consoles Nintendo has ever produced, with a wide variety of games to choose from and plenty of unique features. We’ve already gotten to play new entries across the Zelda, Super Mario, and Pokémon series on Nintendo Switch, but there are still plenty of great games on the way for the hybrid console. This includes exclusive games developed internally by Nintendo, as well as third-party titles and ports of games that are also available on other platforms. Not all upcoming video games make their way to Switch, but plenty do!

Here’s our list of the best upcoming Nintendo Switch games for 2025 and beyond. Of course, some titles without release windows could skip the Switch entirely and wind up on the Nintendo Switch 2. And if you’re looking at all upcoming video games across every console, don’t forget to check out what’s upcoming on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC this year.

If you were to think about it a little too deeply, Pac-Man has always been a creepy concept. Shadow Labyrinth makes that horror explicit by reimagining this arcade classic as a dark and mysterious Metroidvania. That concept is already interesting enough, but the footage also looks like it will play great as well.

One of 2017’s absolute best games is getting a sequel in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it’s headed to Nintendo Switch sometime in the future. It will take the stunning visuals, Metroidvania gameplay, and atmosphere of the original Hollow Knight and put you in the shoes (do these creatures wear shoes?) of Hornet, a princess who is tasked with protecting Hallownest. Silksong was announced in 2022 and we haven’t gotten much of an update on its development, but hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer. If it’s half as good as the original, we’re all in for a treat.

We don’t know a lot about Haunted Chocolatier yet, but developer ConcernedApe’s follow-up to Stardew Valley is easily the most anticipated cozy game in development right now. Haunted Chocolatier begins with the player starting up a chocolate shop while living in a haunted castle in the middle of a snowy community. The player will need to seek out a wide variety of ingredients and alliances to make the best chocolate possible and ultimately reach success. Right now, only a PC release has been mentioned officially, but Stardew Valley was eventually released on all platforms and we don’t see why this title would be treated differently.

Switch 2 vs Xbox Series X: which system is right for you
A Switch 2 sits on a display next to its controller.

Gamers love to compare one console to another to know which will provide the best experience. The latest entry in the console market is the Nintendo Switch 2, which crushes the previous version when directly comparing the Switch 2 vs. Switch, but that's to be expected of any generational leap. The more interesting questions are how things shake out with the Switch 2 vs. PS5, Switch 2 vs. Steam Deck, and Switch 2 vs. Xbox Series X. Technical power is one thing, but there's more to a console than just raw power. We have compared everything a gamer should consider when deciding whether or not to buy a new console, from the best games to controllers and price, to make sure you know which console is right for you.

Kirby Air Riders: release window, trailers, gameplay, and more
Kirby riding on a flying star looking back towards the camera

The list of upcoming Switch 2 games is packed with major Nintendo franchises. The system is launching with Mario Kart World, and a month later we will have Donkey Kong Bananza, but there's one other beloved mascot we learned will be hitting the system this year. Kirby Air Riders is a sequel to the cult-classic GameCube game Kirby Air Ride, both of which are directed by the legendary Masahiro Sakurai of Smash Bros. fame. Since this is likely most people's first exposure to this Kirby spin-off, some might write it off as the lesser of Nintendo's racing franchises but that couldn't be further from the truth. Here's everything you need to know about Kirby Air Riders.

Switch 2 vs. PS5: which console is worth owning in 2025
The Switch 2 next to a TV with Mario Kart.

Before the Switch 2, it was a tight race in terms of power between the PS5 vs. Xbox Series X. However, Nintendo is releasing its most powerful console yet, which seems like it could rival the current market leader. There's a clear winner when comparing the Switch 2 vs. the Switch, but things get a little more complicated when pitting this new hybrid system against Sony's home console. There's a lot that makes a system worth owning besides the specs, including controllers, current and upcoming video games, and the all-important price tag. We are comparing the Switch 2 and PS5 in every category to see which one you should own in 2025.

If you're more of a handheld person, we did the same treatment for the Switch 2 vs. Steam Deck.
