Where to sell stolen and damaged items in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you travel from one settlement to the next in search of adventure. Of course, it’s a given that your items will suffer wear and tear. And, yes, sometimes these items might not have been yours in the first place, since you probably nicked them from some hapless villager. Still, you might be wondering how to earn a few Groschen (i.e. cash) with your wares. Here’s our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 guide on where to sell your stolen and damaged items.

There are several indicators that show if certain items are damaged or stolen in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. You can see these when you open your inventory:

  • Damaged: Sort items based on their condition (i.e. heart icon) to see how much durability they have remaining.
  • Stolen: Appears as a small red hand icon.
  • Dirty (blood): Appears as a red droplet of blood.
  • Dirty (grime): Appears as a brownish germ icon.

Selling stolen property

Generally speaking, you can sell most stolen items in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but there are some caveats:

  • You can only sell items that match a particular merchant type–i.e. tailors buy all sorts of clothing except armors.
  • Continue leveling up your Speech stat so you can unlock the Hustler perk. This nets you bonus Thievery and Stealth experience whenever you sell stolen goods.
  • Some merchants tend to be okay with stolen goods, but they pay only a fraction of the amount. There are two ways to alleviate this issue:
    • Place items inside your personal stash/chest and wait for several days to elapse. The “stolen” tag should eventually disappear.
    • Travel to another village, different from the settlement where you robbed everyone, and sell your wares there.
  • If your reputation in a town is too low, most NPCs will avoid talking to you.
  • Merchants will recognize stuff that they own. Do not attempt to sell them their own wares or they’ll immediately call the guards.

Selling damaged items versus repairing them

Here are a few things to remember if you want to sell damaged items in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2:

  • Look at an item’s durability/condition. The higher the value, the higher the selling price.
  • If you looted a damaged weapon and it has a high selling price, look for a Sharpening Stone at a smithy. You can use Sharpening Stones to repair weapons and hone their edge, thereby increasing their selling price.
  • As for armors and clothes, you can sell cheaper ones without bothering to repair them. However, for those that are quite expensive, you should consider using an Armorer’s Kit for armors and a Tailoring Kit for clothing. These tools can cost a pretty penny, so you’re better off using the ones that you obtained freely as loot from containers or enemies.

Is it worth cleaning dirty or bloodied items before you sell them?

You can, indeed, clean your dirty or bloodied gear pieces via troughs, washing ponds, or bathhouses. However, this has no bearing on the item’s selling price. Instead, this affects your Charisma level, as it’s essentially how people view you. If you’re clean fresh, most NPCs won’t be bothered by your presence. Conversely, if you’re covered in blood and mud, you’ll hear a lot of negative comments.

That does it for our guide on where to sell stolen and damaged items in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. As you explore the realms of Bohemia, you can take a look at our beginner’s guide, moneymaking guide, and reputation guide.

5 games we want to see on the Nintendo Switch 2
Astrion holds his chin in Baldur's Gate 3.

Now that the Nintendo Switch 2 has had its formal reveal and will be arriving in 2025, we can finally shift our focus from all hardware leaks and rumors to the most important part of any console: the software. The Switch 2 was revealed with footage of Mario Kart 9 and details about its backwards compatibility, but that leaves a lot of room to hope and speculate for other games to fill the lineup of upcoming games. With a host of new features, as well as more power to keep up with games that wouldn't be possible on the Switch, a world of possibility has opened up for games we would love to play on the Switch 2. These are our top seven games that we would love to see hit Nintendo's latest console.
Crusader Kings 3

Hardcore strategy games have typically been a genre locked to PCs. While plenty of recent games have done an admiral job of adapting the complex controls and systems for controllers, the genre is clearly best played with a mouse in almost every example. The Switch 2's new Joy-cons may look like a larger version of the original, but they come with a simple yet brilliant feature that opens the doors for these types of experiences to sing. By holding the Joy-con on its side and placing it on a flat surface, you can use it as a mouse pointer. This would be the ideal way to play a game like Crusader Kings 3, which is built on being one of the most dynamic and deep simulations set in the Middle Ages. Being able to take your empire on the go and still be able to easily manage all the systems without fumbling over the controls would easily get us addicted all over again.
